It’s the PROCESS — not the Painting…

Intentional Creativity
I have been involved in the world of Intentional Creativity(R) for nearly 15 years now. When I first stumbled upon the medicine of intentional creativity, I was new to painting. I mean REALLY new -- "Never painted at the easel on a canvas before" new... My first experience painting at the easel was in a workshop I attended in California. I was surrounded by 30 women plus the instructor (who later became my mentor), all of whom were well versed in painting. The first strokes I laid on that canvas were the first strokes that drew me deeper into Intentional Creativity(R). I followed along the instruction the best I could, peeking at the painters' canvases to my right and my left when I didn't fully understand. Maestra came up behind…

Art Submissions, Intentional Creativity, Musea Center for Intentional Creativity
I recently submitted a painting for the Women Woven Together juried art call, held by Musea: Intentional Creativity Museum. Not long after my submission, I was contacted by Musea's Curatorial Director, Amber Gould, and informed that my painting was chosen as one of the "featured promotional images" for the upcoming Many Muses Festival! As if that wasn't enough -- I was asked if it would be OK for Musea to share my painting on their iMusea page along with information about the exhibit!! Oh Em Gee! I am beyond honored!! About a week later, I received notification that my submission "was reviewed by the Musea Art Call Jury and has been selected for inclusion in [our] Women Woven Together exhibit"!!! Oh happy day! The first painting I have ever submitted…

IC Me – February 6, 2021

Free Offerings, Intentional Creativity
Our next monthly, free, livestream journal jamboree is on February 6, 2021. This month, I will be playing with gouache. I have never used this medium before, so this should be fun! I have no idea what it will do our how it will come out. That's what makes it so fun!! Gouache is basically opaque watercolor paint. Once dry, it will react to any wet mediums (water, gesso, matte medium, etc.) that are layered on top of it. This should make it interesting... Use what you have! I do not encourage you to go out and purchase gouache if you do not already have it in your stash. IC Me is all about having fun in your journal and using what you have! If you purchase it and do…

The Flower Bearer

Intentional Creativity, Musea Center for Intentional Creativity
She has broken free of the box She was put in -- both through the Middle Passage and a society who is uncomfortable with the skin She is in. She is adorned with the kente cloth, crown, and markings of Her Ancestors. A crown of golden ovals -- the ovum -- signifying Her rebirth, fertility, and immortality. She sends Her Light into the Universe and the Universe returns inkind with a Light that magnifies Her heART flame. The SUNflower, bathing Her in adoration, loyalty, longevity... Nourishing and vibrant, bringing joy to each moment. She is aligned with the eagle, spreading Her wings and taking flight. She is The Flower Bearer: Bearing the Sweet Nectar of Her Soul. A portion of the painting - The Flower Bearer This is my latest…

An Invitation to Cafe…

Intentional Creativity
My mentor, Shiloh Sophia McCloud, taught me a daily creative practice that I have incorporated into my morning ritual. Today, I am sharing with you a video about the practice. I invite you to consider adding this practice to your daily creative ritual. It is self-care -- a pampering of sorts... Be well. Be blessed. Know that you are love and that you are loved. https://youtu.be/d_y-yskUYrY

The DIVA Empowerment Studio would like to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwanza, and Happy New Year! I am honored that you have chosen to journey with me in 2020, and it is my hope that you continue to keep our Red Thread connection strong for many years to come. 2020 has been one doozy of a year! Between COVID-19, the mess in the political scene -- including the craziness of the Presidential election, and being on lockdown/semi-lockdown since March, I have to say I am glad to see 2020 go! I usually try not to rush my days along, by WHEW! I will be glad when we can look this year in the rearview mirror and say "Thank you for my blessings and…

I am proud to announce that the DIVA Empowerment Studio is now a Musea Center for Intentional Creativity! As you are already aware, I am a Certified Color of Woman Teacher and Certified Intentional Creativity Coach. Through the years, my teacher Shiloh Sophia has been establishing the foundation of the Intentional Creativity Movement and curating the container and content for Intentional Creativity. As an extension of her work, she has streamlined certifications, which culminates in my being now known as an Intentional Creativity Teacher. This work is ever changing and growing. By extension, so am I. Part of this growth is having the DIVA Empowerment Studio certified as a Musea Center. Photo: Fine Art America I am honored to be able to hang this beautiful tapestry on the Studio's wall…
