A couple of weeks ago I launched a free art journaling class here on the website called Monday Mixed Media Magick. Each Monday, I add a new lesson to the classroom to help you get past the blank page and start creating inspirational words and images in your art journal. (Actually, the lessons are posted in advance -- there are 4 lessons available now, which take you through March 9th.) I got some new metallic paints from Arteza -- a gift to myself for the new year. Today, I finally got around to swatching them... I try to make a swatch of all the new paints and markers I get. It's the best way to see the true color. I also swatch them on the paper that I'm most likely to use them on (140lb watercolor paper) so that I know how they will perform. I believe it's a "best practice" to swatch your new paints and markers. How else will you know what they really look like? The color bands on the tubes are nice, and it's nice to be able to see through the bottles if they're in a bottle. But you won't truly know what the color…

Along with opening the Studio's physical location, working in my heARTbook and creating PDFs to share with the DIVA Empowerment Sisterhood, raising 2 teenage boys on my own, and just living life, I have also decided to join in on the 29 Faces Challenge... Basically the challenge is for you to create one face a day for the 29 days in February. I joined the challenge because I have a deep desire to paint portraits.
