Color Theory-ish

Color Theory-ish

General News
I am a non-traditional artist... Non-traditional in that I have never taken a formal art course. All of the art I do comes intuitively. Yes, I have taken "art classes" -- but these are the types of classes that teach art as a healing modality rather than art from a learned technical/skill perspective. I have taken a class or two on how to draw a face and how to paint a face. Well, to be honest, it's more like I have signed up for classes on drawing and painting faces. I'm pretty bad at actually doing the lessons unless it's a live, real-time course... But I have at least watched enough to have a good understanding of proportions and how to draw/paint the human face. Color theory? Now that's a…

DIVA Empowerment Studio recently launched a series of classes on the technology you need to have a website, e-mail marketing with automations, online classroom, professional video editing (coming soon), and more so that you can bring your business fully online. Being able to conduct your business online is critical -- especially in this era of COVID... You are a creative, or a salesperson, or someone who knows how to run your business well. BUT -- you don't know the technology to bring your business online (partially or fully) and you have been pulling your hair out trying to figure it all out. A website is a given. But how will you stay in contact with your list? Hell -- how will you increase your list? How will you provide a…

Artfully Wild Blog Along

Artfully Wild Blog Along

General News
Last month, I was musing about how I can post more often here on the blog. Then, my art journal mentor, Effy Wild, posted about this blog along. I've participated in Effy's blog along in prior years, but for her post to come up during a time when I wanted to infuse more time into writing blog posts more regularly was Divine Synchronicity... The gist of this blog along is to get people writing. One post a day for 30 days. So, for April, I will attempt to write one blog post a day. Hopefully that will get my mojo going to write a post at least once each month. I certainly will not even begin to promise to write daily after this month. But I think I can handle…

Helping Young Girls in Zambia

Helping Young Girls in Zambia

General News
In one of the quilting groups I'm in on social media, one of the ladies mentioned she was sewing purses for young girls in Zambia. It's a project called Sew Powerful Purses and the goal is to make purses for girls so that they can continue their education and not miss days in school. I recently purchased some Ankara fabrics thinking I could make an African scrap quilt. When I saw the post about Sew Powerful Purses, I immediately thought that I could use the Ankara fabrics for purses instead. So yesterday, after receiving my new pair of Gingher scissors, I printed the pattern and cut the pieces out. I spent the evening reviewing the pattern and the accompanying 'how to' video so that I would be comfortable attempting to…

Dust Here, There, and Everywhere

General News
You all know that we move into our new space this Saturday, February 1st. You've seen the pictures and "heard" me gushing about the space and how excited I am. Well, it seems we also have a bit of dust building on the Internet too... Obviously you know about the website -- it's where this blog resides. And alot of you read my blog because you're either a member of the Facebook Group, the Facebook Page, or both. (However you come to read the blog, thank you for being one of my blog readers!) So that means we're on social media in addition to having a website presence (IG: @diva.empowerment). But did you know that we're on Patreon too? Many people avoid Facebook. Be it they're tired of the way…

New Studio Sign

General News
Thanks to DIVA Custom Laser Adornments, we have a new sign to place on the fireplace mantle in the Studio: DIVA Empowerment Studio mantle sign. It is made from beautiful hickory wood and laser engraved. The sign measures 12 x 20 inches and is a wonderful addition to the Studio's decor. Hickory is a lovely two-toned wood that gives the sign character. If you're ever in need of custom wood work -- signs, earrings, custom gifts, home decor, etc. -- I highly recommend DIVA Custom Laser Adornments. They will take good care of you! Fast and uber professional.
