Why I Love Technology — Even When It Doesn’t Work

Why I Love Technology — Even When It Doesn’t Work

Artfully Wild Blog Along
I worked in the information technology field for over 30 years before I retired... It was always a "love-hate" relationship. Loved technology but hated the folks who needed help. They never listen. They call you for assistance and then they go clicking away while you're trying to help them. Or, they asking you why you doing what you doing. I'm doing it because something's not working and you want it fixed! GEEZ!!! Then there's the deadly ones.... You know the type: They call you for help and then instead of letting you help, they try to fix it themselves while you stand there. And they're only working with the knowledge of how to use the program. That's VERY different from how to troubleshoot and repair what's gone wrong. This weekend,…

Art Addiction

Art Addiction

Artfully Wild Blog Along
Hello. I am Wysdom and I am addicted to art supplies and classes... And what makes it worse is I have TWO studios to fill with supplies -- one in my home and a separate space where I teach creative classes (pre-pandemic, now I teach online). And guess what? They are BOTH OVERFLOWING with art supplies!!! It's a sickness, I tell ya... But I just can't seem to stop myself! If I'm not purchasing supplies, I'm buying a class. I will pat myself on the back though and say that I am a LOT better with actually taking the classes I buy. In the past, I'd buy, start the class, and then never finish it... I have every supply I could ever want. Sure -- there are supplies out there…

Some links contained in this article are affiliate links. That means I may earn a fee if you use the link and make a purchase. This does not affect your price for the item(s). So, I'm painting Green Tara. Her and Her 21 emanations... Green Tara's Seed Symbol, "TAM" This is the first thing I painted on my canvas. It's Green Tara's Seed Symbol, "TAM" (pronounced "tahm"). I am taking a class by Whitney Freya and learning a lot about Green Tara. I am pretty anxious to see what manifests. I have never painted Green Tara before. The experience has been soul soothing and very deep so far -- I'm only on day 2 or 3 (out of 22)... It has peeked my interest to learn more about this deity,…

Color Theory-ish

Color Theory-ish

General News
I am a non-traditional artist... Non-traditional in that I have never taken a formal art course. All of the art I do comes intuitively. Yes, I have taken "art classes" -- but these are the types of classes that teach art as a healing modality rather than art from a learned technical/skill perspective. I have taken a class or two on how to draw a face and how to paint a face. Well, to be honest, it's more like I have signed up for classes on drawing and painting faces. I'm pretty bad at actually doing the lessons unless it's a live, real-time course... But I have at least watched enough to have a good understanding of proportions and how to draw/paint the human face. Color theory? Now that's a…

It’s the PROCESS — not the Painting…

Intentional Creativity
I have been involved in the world of Intentional Creativity(R) for nearly 15 years now. When I first stumbled upon the medicine of intentional creativity, I was new to painting. I mean REALLY new -- "Never painted at the easel on a canvas before" new... My first experience painting at the easel was in a workshop I attended in California. I was surrounded by 30 women plus the instructor (who later became my mentor), all of whom were well versed in painting. The first strokes I laid on that canvas were the first strokes that drew me deeper into Intentional Creativity(R). I followed along the instruction the best I could, peeking at the painters' canvases to my right and my left when I didn't fully understand. Maestra came up behind…

Last month, I was musing about how I can post more often here on the blog. Then, my art journal mentor, Effy Wild, posted about this blog along. I've participated in Effy's blog along in prior years, but for her post to come up during a time when I wanted to infuse more time into writing blog posts more regularly was Divine Synchronicity... The gist of this blog along is to get people writing. One post a day for 30 days. So, for April, I will attempt to write one blog post a day. Hopefully that will get my mojo going to write a post at least once each month. I certainly will not even begin to promise to write daily after this month. But I think I can handle…

Art Submissions, Intentional Creativity, Musea Center for Intentional Creativity
I recently submitted a painting for the Women Woven Together juried art call, held by Musea: Intentional Creativity Museum. Not long after my submission, I was contacted by Musea's Curatorial Director, Amber Gould, and informed that my painting was chosen as one of the "featured promotional images" for the upcoming Many Muses Festival! As if that wasn't enough -- I was asked if it would be OK for Musea to share my painting on their iMusea page along with information about the exhibit!! Oh Em Gee! I am beyond honored!! About a week later, I received notification that my submission "was reviewed by the Musea Art Call Jury and has been selected for inclusion in [our] Women Woven Together exhibit"!!! Oh happy day! The first painting I have ever submitted…

International Women’s Day 2021

International Women's Day
Happy International Women's Day! This year's theme is Choose to Challenge. It is a call to action. Action for us to choose to challenge gender inequality and bias. 2021 holds promise of this challenge, starting with the election of our first female Vice President of the United States. We've been gaining momentum toward this goal each and every year. We have seen some successes, e.g., Vice President Kamala Harris, however there's still a long way to go and much work to be done. So I ask you: Will you Choose to Challenge? Will you challenge the "establishment" and help to effect change? Will you stand up for gender equality? Will you take action to end gender bias? Will you be a beacon of light in the fight for women's rights?…
