This year for DV Awareness Month (October), I am launching D.O.T.S. of Dopeness: Domestic violence Outreach for Transformation and Support.

D.O.T.S. of Dopeness(TM) is combining an active form of meditation -- dot mandala making -- with the principles of Intentional Creativity to cause and create healing for one's Self. This healing modality gets you in to a meditative state through a repetitive activity (active meditation), which can be a boon for many people who are unable to meditate in the traditional manner of sitting still, getting quiet, and clearing your mind. D.O.T.S. of Dopeness also incorporates the principles of Intentional Creativity: creating with clear intention. This allows our active meditation to culminate in an intentionally created artwork, thereby allowing all of the healing that can be effected through meditation and creating art with intention to flow.

D.O.T.S. of Dopeness allows our mind, body, and soul to be engaged in the healing process. Our minds are involved through the active meditation. Our bodies are involved because we are physically moving. Our souls are involved because the combination of a clear mind with creativity helps us to manifest the longings of our soul. Through this we are able to heal our wounds, let go of what is holding us back, and create and live the life our our dreams -- one small dot at a time...

We learn to crawl before we learn to walk. We make one small dot after another and "learn" to get into a meditative state through this activity. In the end, we have a beautiful mandala which started out as one small dot. But more importantly, we have spent focused time in sacred self-care with a clear mind, clear intentions, and a heART focused on healing.

That is the goal -- Sacred self-care with a clear focus on healing. Ase'.

This is a dot mandala in progress. It is made on 24 inch spruce wood, 2 inches thick. This mandala is being created to honor the thousands of indigenous children that "disappeared" from Canada's residential schools. Each dot is a prayer for the children and their families. Each dot was made intentionally, to remember the lost lives. Each dot was made to help with the healing needed from this tragedy. Each dot was made with a purpose, on purpose. Each dot takes me deeper into the meditative state where the conscious and unconscious minds integrate, leaving me open to hear the whisperings of my heART and soul. Giving me the presence necessary to understand the wisdom being imparted...

Let us journey together through dots -- a circle with no beginning and no end -- into the realm of Self: colorful and bright, gray and gloomy, nice and neutral. Whatever may enter the circle to be alchemized into beauty as symbolized by the completed mandala that will be manifest.

If you are a survivor of domestic violence, I invite you to join my D.O.T.S. of Dopeness community. This is a private community which is not on social media (e.g., a Facebook group). Only the members of this community can see who is in the group and what is posted. The group can only be found if you are part of DIVA Empowerment Studio's creative community or if you were sent a personal invitation from me. Stumbling upon the group only takes you to a page informing you of the private community and enabling you to request to join (and all requests are manually approved). This is a sacred space, made as "safe" (read: private) as possible. This is where we share our Dots of Dopeness, Survivors' Squares(TM), our heARTs, and ourselves.
